Abstract

The increasing exposure to social media and smartphone use among Generation Z has contributed to the rise of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and cyberbullying, both of which have the potential to impair sleep quality. This study aims to analyze the relationship between FoMO and cyberbullying with sleep quality among Generation Z. A quantitative method with a cross-sectional design was employed. The study population included all individuals born between 1997 and 2012 residing in South Kalimantan. Based on the sample size calculation using the Lemeshow formula, the minimum required sample size was 384 respondents. This study employed a non-probability sampling technique using a convenience sampling method. A total of 408 respondents who met the inclusion criteria participated in this study. Data were collected using a questionnaire. FoMO was measured using the Fear of Missing Out Scale (FoMOS), cyberbullying was assessed using the Cyberbullying and Online Aggression Survey Instrument, and sleep quality was measured using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The findings showed that 376 respondents (92,2%) had poor sleep quality, while only 32 respondents (7,8%) had good sleep quality. A total of 189 respondents (46,3%) had high FoMO, while 219 respondents (53,7%) had low FoMO. Additionally, 127 respondents (31,1%) were identified as victims of cyberbullying, whereas the majority 281 respondents (68,9%) were not victims. The results indicate a significant association between FoMO sleep quality (POR = 2,347) and cyberbullying with sleep quality (POR = 3,403) among Generation Z in South Kalimantan.
