Stroke not only affects individuals but also families. The role of family members who provide care for patients is very important for the recovery of stroke patients. Family psychoeducation with a transcultural nursing approach is important for nurses to know. Nurses with culturally sensitive competencies can understand and respect individuals with diverse cultural backgrounds and lifestyles so that they can provide quality nursing services that are centered on patients. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the application of family psychoeducation with a transcultural nursing approach to caring for stroke patients. The method used was a case report involving patients who had strokes and their families for five weeks. The results showed that family psychoeducation in stroke patients can be carried out with a transcultural nursing theory approach. The transcultural nursing approach is carried out in the form of actions to preserve or maintain culture, accommodation or negotiation of cultural care, and restructuring of cultural care. Transcultural nursing theory can bridge cultural differences between families and health professionals. Nurses can carry out family psychoeducation interventions with a transcultural nursing approach in providing culturally competent care.
